the other day i found out that forumation have removed google ads on the english boards, but i have them on my forum. is this a little problem or have you added them again so we have to pay for them to be removed

Please let us decide ourselves if we want this rubish on our forums or not! The damn ads other than the above is all about insurance and single clubs etc! WE DONT WANT THIS!

Or is this done with the intention to "prune" some forums or members?

Will this be fixed or do we need to look for another server?

I am having the same problem...I have my own domain but use this as my forum...I run a cooking/recipe site and ads for adult chat isnt acceptable where kids come for recipes...this needs to be removed

Although I am having trouble getting this to work. This actually happened to me before now I think about it and this thread helped me fix it. This time I can't even access the features it talks about. They were there last night though. Now I can't access them at all. This is really frustrating me and any help is appreciated.

EDIT: My forum is a family site for all ages. A cactus forum. Porn ads worry me too. Haven't seen any yet, but am sure they will pop up eventually, well I hope not anyway.

You should have been more specific.

Whilst they make or may not make you/us live my question is why, all of a sudden do I have ads when my forum never usually has them? I probably wouldn't have minded so much if I had been asked. If not that, atleast informed that they were going up on my forum so I knew what was going on, instead of them just appearing there and not being able to shut them off. This also begs the questions as to why I cannot access this part of my admin panel/not having the option illustrated in this thread:

I suspect that even if I did buy credits and took them down that they would still be there? Others seem to be having this problem. Doesn't seem fair.

What these ads have done is turned forumotion into just one of a dozen free forum providers, instead of a unique product of ad free from the outset.

I think this move is going to destroy your reputation, and people will start to go elsewhere, I mean it's not like your reliable or anything, just look back 2-3 weeks ago, when everything crashed, then half of our forums wouldn't function properly, staff were asked for help, but funnily enough, it was the members who helped each other, not forumotion.

All we are to you now is collateral, and nothing else!!!!

These ads started yesterday morning (east coast USA time) and were noticed by members and my gf as early as 530AM, before yesterday there were no ads and we've had good ratings on the directory for a while now too... I'm finding this kind of sketchy, in one thread I read an admin saying the english side has no ads, in fact that was quoted to page one of this thread but there they are...

Heres a screanshot from just a few minutes ago, I have ads on both sides and on top... You can see the "adult chat rooms" on the top ads.

thats a valid question but forumotion isnt going to do it by using these ads, not enough to pay wages anyway. the best way is to have a product which people want, which is forums without ads, then you get them to your store by the link on the bottom of every forum thats made, to buy your promotional mugs and shirts or whatever your'e selling at the time. Thats where the money is. people hate these Spam ads,and very rarely click on them anyway.Theres only going to be so much revenue by people paying to take the ads off, and by the reactions to these ads they have just alienated a few more people from forumotion who never expected these ads to show up in the first place. Its a bit dodgy too as i keep getting ads for adult chat rooms popping up now and then, which doesn't look good on a site like mine, when you think too that children of 13 are allowed to use these forums. you really have to watch what you have for google to pick up as keywords now.

OMG I just saw your add...talk live with singles...oh my mercy...I will have to shut my site down if something isnt done...I cant have kids clicking on ads...this is why I signed up...can fully understand them needing to make money but cant have these ads...

I just got a message from a new member on my gaming forum, apparently yesterday there was an add for Sex games, he didnt know what to think, until he spoke to a few other members who informed him otherwise, kind of has me worried, what new members are going to think on the registration page, and will we loose members???

Now you are saying your word and that of your staff means nothing when it comes to making money?
So why should we believe anything you say?
Is there really any techs working on fixing the problems as you have stated or is this yet another untruth?
Before you get on your high horse typlo can I remind the members who posted first to inform us the members that english forums are ad-free? Yes you guessed it was you!
This is just the latest addition to a serious downward slide for forumotion and one I hope you can recover from but from the attitude of certain staff, those that work in the office I doubt it.
Your excuse that the ads pay for cutting edge upgrades is also false as we have yet to see any "cutting edge upgrades" unless you count three different versions of the heavily cut down acp or the messed up chatbox?

sure i agree that no one likes or wants adds.especially if it's a pornographic at the top of a our forumotions forums.

i absolutely would not agree or want them on my site for two reasons.
reason one. there are a lot of family oriented forums.
two. we are not allowed to have pornography on are forums so porn adds should not be allowed period.

although this is an adult related site. i feel attacking this add and forumotion on this is just a tad bit out of context.

this is not anything that would break forumotions TOS and suggests no pornographic images or strong sexual/explicit content. even the girl on the web cam in her bathing suit yes shes pretty/hot but this is not porn. it's a girl in here bathing suite. you see worse in a PG-13 movie or on TV or wright out in public. this is nothing more then a dating service, and not promoting pornography or have any images that are sexually suggestive and or explicit.
are members forgeting that forumotion free forum host?someone has to pay for it.now if it was stated that there would no longer be anymore adds on the English forums then i can see people being upset and wondering why there back?
but why would they remove adds that are generating the capital it takes to allow us to have free forums, pay for all forumotions employees and forumotion to be able to make a profit as well.. (it's business.)

if there were true pornographic adds being placed on forumotion forums
then believe me i think they would take all the necessary steps and procedures to have them removed and hold those responsible for allowing or putting them on something that is a family friendly kid safe host.all the rest of the adds are for myspace stuff and other. and so far i have only seen them on the log in page. once your logged in i do not see them.

adds are everywhere. not just here. look at myspace facebook stickam YouTube veho the list goes on. this is how we are able to get free things.
at least the few adds that are on forumotion do not pop up to something that when you close them it then opens another window that gets you with some kind of malware or ad-ware.

do i think there annoying? yes.
do i like the fact the we have them on our forum? no.
but without money being generated we would not have forumotions free forums
or just about any other free service on the computer.so unless these adds are something that has strong sexual content and sexually explicit. then were probably stuck with them. the good news is. that we still have our forums.who's is there for the adds anyway? members are there for the forum. they know the computer and who they work.they know adds are everywhere. not just on our sites. as far as our children or people who find pornography not to there liking or believes. then of course it would be unacceptable to have any pornographic adds at the top of our forums.

i really dont see this adult chat/dating service being porno.
this is a walk in the park compared to what a lot of free image host are now advertising now. imagevenue. one of the biggest free image host out there.
nothing but real xxx hc porno adds when you click to an image that leads to there page.i think some are just throwing this whole add thing on our forums out of proportion a Lil.if there is indeed strong sexual explicit adds being put on forumotion.
send the mods or admins the links or a screen shot of what the adds are leading too.then if the problem in hand is not taken care of or ignored? then and only then should you/we/one take matters into there own hands and go above forumotions head on such an issue.

but so far i have not seen anything that suggest something pornographic or sexually explicit. however i will def be looking out for it.
i honestly do not believe that forumotin would promote any links or adds leading to things such as porn. French law or not.

i said i was not going to respond to things anymore. i just felt i would like to try to give a Lil insight leaning towards more of the business perspective and not so much the adds there self. {with the acceptation real porn adds possibly being put into the mix}
