the other day i found out that forumation have removed google ads on the english boards, but i have them on my forum. is this a little problem or have you added them again so we have to pay for them to be removed

Kirk, how do you know what links our forums are showing, all my google add links are different from my mates, and were both gaming forums, and one of the links, was sex toys and sex games, I was told this by a new member, I cant have this on our site, and yes I agree forumotion needs to make money, but I signed up here on a belief that there was no adds "I was lied too".

so far i have seen many different add links but nothing with any kind of explicit pornography. i am not saying people are not getting them. just so far i have not seen any. and in my whole time of haveing forumotion forums i have never seen any.. but it is possible.
i have bin going through the forums directory on and off since last night and not ran into any yet not one other then the stupid adult chat/dating service. but that's not pornographic and that thing i seen on a lot of forums so far. some forums have none at all. most forums i seen also have the pimp your my space things.

dont worry when and if i do. it will be reported to the admin here along with a screen shot of the add on the forum and what it Leeds to.
if you members or staff come across these kinds of adds ask them to please take a screen shot. i personally dont like adds. but dont mind them either.
but now i for one am not down with porn adds being there. if it was on my 21 and older forums then i could car less. but not on my all ages forums.. oh no no..

would anyone like to join the cause and volunteer to go through forums in the directory and see if we come across them. pm or just join in. be sure to have the screen shot and the link to what it Leeds to. without that. everything is here say and dose not prove anything

I know its not porn but the implication of something unsavoury is there too. we do have 13 year olds knocking about these forums. i certainly dont want to be responsible for exposing children to stuff like that just because they came to my forum and clicked on one of these stupid ads.

This reminds me of another forum provider that i was with (freeforums .org)...they advertised free forums with promises of no ads whatsoever...then when membership grew to a certain point , bang! they hit everyone with ads and you either liked them or paid to have them removed or just leave altogether. I left and came here, and i can see the same thing happening here. I have put in money for now to have ads removed and also have bought my own domain.
But i feel for those that can't afford to have ads removed.

what is so ironic to me is that god forbid if someone were to have something pornographic on there forum. you would be shut down in a heart beat. but now it's OK to have porn adds??? whoa!!!

is it just me or is this a double standard of some sort?
i think forumotion will take care of the issue as far as the porn adds. as far as regular adds. then they will most likely stay. to me it's not a big deal.
but if other done want them i can understand.. i never even knew you can pay to have them removed. but according to spook he paid. and they came back?? so that's not cool either.

OK I have spoken to some of my members, and they have seen ads for come and meet singles, sex toys, and other explicit content.

I love forumotion, but I can see me closing, or getting into trouble with members or the Forumotion team for content I cannot controll.

What do I do?

This is already an expensive "free" forum provider I think you have just priced yourself out of the market as you can get you own webspace cheaper than a "free" forum from you, and have the full features of phpbb not heavily cut down ones.
Is this the real reason we can't get our databases so we are forced to put up with really bad service especially over the last month or because the "so called" techs haven't the knowledge to extract them?
I can just imagine the conversation in the staff room "they have worked hard to build up their forums , I know we'll force ads on them and demand money to remove them" "mon dieu what a plan marcel they cannot go any where as we will not let them have the databases" sounds of hysteric gallic laughter.
I already after the recent "updates" had a low opinion of forumotion now it has sunk to below sea level.

Forumotion is rapidly slipping down hill, there are juniors on some forums yet there are now ads for sex toys and dating sites, How can we keep kids safe when tis filth is advertised? And having to pay to have it removed is just a farce.

Thats what i dont understand either, my friend made a forum two days ago same template as mine, and there isnt any ads to be seen anywhere.

it isnt fair no, these ads are just spam, which we have no control over, google just picks up the Keywords on each page and plonks down any old rubbish, which is why if you talk about the little furry bunny rabbits, you will get the keyword rabbit picked up and have sex toy ads plastered all over your forum.

Are we going to have to start a new forum so we dont have these ad's on then? After the chat box screw up this is the last thing we need, im sure we lost a few members back then and now with these link we could lose some more. We prided ourselves on having NO AD'S now we cant even do that.

i'm taken a week off. i closed 2 of my forumotion forums that are all ages until further notice. my 21 and older forum will remain open. my online drinking games are still scheduled as always.. my mods love them nights. ha ha

my private forum has no adds. it is not in any forum directors and is a pass protected page. then my new place me and my friend from here opened. is open. no adds. but no members yet either.. lol it's new. so i'm taken a break until this is worked out. worse case scenario. I'll shut down my all ages forums. move the link and turn them into something else.. it sux though. b/c i have a lot of family/kids along with friend kids for a place of there own. there going to be upset. it's like the only place there parents will let them go. and my sisters and aunt run most of it most of the time.
now kirk is coming and and taking it away.. i knew i should have never opend it.. Lil brats..let them do there home work on the computer if they want to go on it LMAO.. na there all good kids and my sis hooks them up with lots of activities for them. in a sense it is private. we only allow people with kids that know one and other. it just seems the best way to do it without unknown outsiders coming in.

bottom line is this

forumotion staff has proven time and time again to be extremely inept.

the fact that a forum can be taken down wholesale for pornography on their page yet some people are being forced to have porn ads on their page shows how backwards you turdburglars truly are.

not to mention the reprocussions this could have on people posting from work and other places where such ads could get them into trouble.

bottom line is this.
