Yes or No
Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
First topic message reminder :
I am suggesting that we have the option to edit or remove the timeout time for the chatbox. It gets irritating when we get kicked out of the chatbox after a shortwhile of inactivity.

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
Hello,
I will be honest for this suggestion. This is an excellent suggestion but the thing that users will get the use of this for their own selfishness is not good. Users may select 20 minutes time to get them logged out but they wont be there at all. That will keep space and a bit annoying. Anyways. I would prefer instead of choosing a specific time to get us logged out, that time, stay online but be invisible.
I think that this suggestion will make chat a lot hard to control (if you have a lot members using it).
Εdit: For this reason i vote no. Sorry.

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
ALL my support! Honestly around 50% of my chatbox archives get filled up with spam by myself and members just posting "..." or some random nonsense to try and stay in the chat. We aren't always talking but we like to stay in there and stay active so as to see what's going on and if someone does say something... you know?
Though I can see the other side as well and why people wouldn't support this. But as a small forum owner and an avid user of the chatbox... I would like to be able to stay in the chatbox without having to log back in every 15 minutes or so just because I'm being quiet. I think I also saw something earlier about an option to stay hidden in chat or something like that? I think thats a cool idea too, possibly something you could assign to specific groups?

I agree... Also might I add that I am not advocating remove it completely from the chatbox. What I am advocating for is the ability for me to disable via the acp option. If we are an administrator on a forumotion forum I think should have the option get disable it (for OUR forum indivually).
Thanks - branding_g

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
Yes, it is not me specifically that wants this feature removed or adjusted, I have an OPEN suggestion on my forum for wanting the chatbox timeout disabled, and I can not even solve it at the moment. It seems like a simple to add.Rog360 wrote:I'll settle for time out to be removed or adjustable...

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
This has been going on for 3 years? Is it that difficult to fix? Clearly the majority vote yes. It is incredibly annoying.

problem indeed! now see when support staff implements the change if votes are massively in favour. In this case they too on their forums see the annoyance, so surely they will love to see changes as well

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
Unfortunarelly it is not the support staff here's call, they are volunteers, the paid techs and admins of fm would need to add this. It seems rather simple to give us a little box to tic and click save!

Any way to contact them?
Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
I meant as a whole, Staff pro etc... same thing in french site
Volunteer staff has nothing to do with Forumotion employees on payroll.
But some idea must be implemented. Here we see this is a frequently asked poll and yet... ?
No, Frank_Wx . Not that I know of, as usually their PM's are switched off. And only work on work hours, and usually are not working on weekends, holidays or (paid/unpaid) leave days...

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
The techs can only contacted through this sites admins, the admins can be reached through the volunteer staff. They will not do so unless it is a support problem... and a big 1 at that.Frank_Wx wrote:brandon_g wrote:Unfortunarelly it is not the support staff here's call, they are volunteers, the paid techs and admins of fm would need to add this. Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
yes and not all site admins can be reached via pm's though!
My last note regarding an interesting point should be raised; if invisible on forum, it may/could be extended to chatbox as well? And if not on soecific groups, to the wholw forum, as many members chose to be invisible

Re: Edit/Remove Chatbox Timeout
That is a seperate issue count, I can deal with not being invisible, I like the chatroom timeout feature disabled BEFORE anything else, it is the biggest and most annoying part of them all!
Just give us a option, "Disable Chatbox Timeout on the forum?" with little tic that say yes or no. Seems simple to me!
