#1845 Chrome Users Unable to Interact with Forum Sidebar/Widgets
Within the past week members of my forum have been unable to interact with the sidebar/widgets on the forum while using Google Chrome. I confirmed this interaction myself while testing with Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Have there been incidents like this in the past that I might be able to look back to? If possible I'd like to get this resolved for the large portion of my member base that uses Chrome as their primary browser (myself included).
Thank you in advance,
JMN

Hello,
What exactly do you mean by 'unable to interact' with the siebar/widget? May you provide a screenshot of exactly what you mean?

Re: #1845 Chrome Users Unable to Interact with Forum Sidebar/Widgets
Thank you for the quick response, Brandon. When I say they cannot interact I mean that everything within the side bar is treated as empty space. The links cannot be clicked, the mouse over effects do not respond, etc. Below are two screen captures that show this. In one (Google Chrome) my mouse cursor is clearly over an icon which has a mouse over function that changes the image above it, but is inactive and is shown as a standard white mouse arrow. In the other (Microsoft Edge) my mouse is over the same icon, but the image above it has changed due to the mouse over function, as well as displaying the "pointer" cursor that typically denotes an actionable item.

Hmm.. Do you have any codes installed that may affect that area? If so, may you post them here?

Re: #1845 Chrome Users Unable to Interact with Forum Sidebar/Widgets
I have not made any changes to that section of the site for several months, nor have I had any issue with it until this week with Chrome. I'm not extremely familiar with the coding aspect of the site, but I believe everything on that side bar was added directly through the widget manager in the Admin Control Panel. Is there something in particular you're looking for? I don't believe that anything outside of the site template which has been unchanged for several years or the widgets manager would affect that section.

Hello @jnorat,
It looks like a stack index problem. Try adding the following rule to your stylesheet.
Display > Colors > CSS stylesheet

- Code:
#right {
position:relative;
z-index:1;
}
Re: #1845 Chrome Users Unable to Interact with Forum Sidebar/Widgets
That code seemed to have done the trick. Also, yes Chrome is up to date. I apologize for my delayed response, I was away from my laptop all day. It seems as though the issue has been resolved for me and at least some of the members who were experiencing the same problem. I thank the three of you for your help.

Is this solved then?

- Since Chrome's latest update, there's been some problems with PunBB forums. The problem in particular is that the right widget column is being blocked by the content container, thus preventing interaction with it.
I've reported the problem to our technicians.
Thanks for your help

Re: #1845 Chrome Users Unable to Interact with Forum Sidebar/Widgets
I've reported the problem to Butterup, as this bug is present on all PunBB forums. I'll suggest waiting for the moment and consider the code I posted a "temporary fix" if you urgently need to use the widgets in the right column. The left column is unaffected by this bug, so you can switch columns too if you want.Black-Shadow wrote:Hello,

In regards to the CSS, the reason it made the content disappear is because it positions the column relatively so z-index can take effect. Unfortunately absolute and fixed elements will display relative to the column's position.
