Problem with new user log in
This has never happened before . I went to enable a couple features in a new user profile .
The top features are locked out for me . When I mouse over them I get a circle with a red line through it .
What is up with that ?

Hello @azwiz,
Those fields are fields that only the user can change. This is happening due to the new GDPR changes.

Wait a minute . Are you kidding me ?
Not able to enable email sending ?
Not able to enable receiving of news letters ?
That makes no sense .
Okay I read it .
Up until now . I was able to be sure not to send users unwanted newsletters by categorizing the user groups . That way only the few that I targeted would receive them .
I guess now . There isn't much point in having user groups .
Am I also to understand that I am only allowed 2 newsletters ?
Don't think this and the new forum feature packages are going to help already difficult features .
Does that mean that users are already able to receive newsletters by default ?
What about emails ?
Doesn't this seem like this will make already difficult communication . Almost impossible ?
Re: Problem with new user log in
When someone registers on your forum, they will see an option for newsletters/emails when they are creating their accounts.

Also when they receive newsletters from your forum, they will have options to unsubscribe from or remain receiving them.

Yes we have always had that .
I am all for improving the protection of peoples information . But these features do not help that .
They will undoubtedly disrupt The goals , intentions , protocols , and already difficult mega task of the owners of these website / forums .
Protect peoples information everyone . But be sure not to do anything about school shootings . I am being facetious . BTW . And it would be distateful to place " Lol " . After the words school shootings
Re: Problem with new user log in
Hello Azwiz,
We understand your frustation, however, there is nothing we can do, we have to make these changes. As GDPR (a european union law aimed at protecting data) is effective starting today. Since Forumotion is an international company, we have no choice but to comply with this new law. In the law it explicitly states that newslettera need to be an opt in thing, meaning the user themself (and only the user) must choose to enable newsletters in order to recieve them. That is why these changes have been made and why the option has been disabled in the admin panel to enable newsletters.
Furthermore, since there is nothing we can about the law except comply, these changes are permanent and here to stay, sorry .

Please also Note that we are not the only ones to do this.
Facebook, Twitter, All websites including any site you have to log in to now has to make this change by law.
Sadly it's a must all over the world.
