Solved I Seem to have Ruined my Forum Settings

Post by GrayceeJewel November 1st 2020, 4:31 pm

Hi, Last night I went to change the the Theme of my Forum. I wanted to add a Font to the text , so I went in that box & as I did it , I deleted all the 3 Fonts I had already set in there when I first opened the Forum.
Now, all settings seem to be wrong, The Notifications are very small & hard to see them properly.
I also have a very small little box on the Front page, where if I hover over it says VIEW LAST POST! How do I get all the proper settings back for my phpBB
style Forum..
I am Diane Cawlfield from Bratz & Friendz
https://bratzandfriendz.forumotion.com/

I don't know what I actually did to make this mess, but I would appreciate letting me know what is the way to correct it to just go back to normal.
Here is a Screen Print of what those little boxes are & why it doesn't say who posted last on the page???

TYIA for your help. I'm sorry..

I only saw the place to add it like a image, but I'll do it next time if I have to.
TY for the instruction & I'll wait for you to tell me if I have to redo the skin again & all the colors..

Hi,
I know what you are saying & that's usually the ideal situation, BUT, I don't even know what I am trying to restore as I didn't know there was a problem until I was all done with the November change!
I'll just read the tutorial & pick the ones that best fit. Can I redo it if all is not back to normal and chose a different time to Restore?
Sorry, to be such a pest, but if I don't ask I won't know, right?

I think SLGray meant to say cache and cookies, you do not need to clear your browser history.

Hi,
The only thing I see wrong now, BEFORE we do the BACK UP proceedure, is that the Font in the Notification box is very small..Is there any way to make it bigger in the AP? So, we don't have to do the back up, as we fixed everything on our own?

OK Brandon, do you mean on my computer or for the Forum or both?

We are also OK now, except for the Notification font that is too small...so if we can fix that, we don't have to run the backup!
That would make me feel better to NOT have to do that because I am afraid I'd lose track of everything, as to the settings we redid & like now??
Can you tell me how to just fix the Font size in the Notification bar? TY Hello

Hello,

I assume you mean the notifications in the Forumotion toolbar at the top of the forum? If so, if you could pm me with a test account (does not need to have admin rights), I will work on a fix for your notification text font.

Did you install a new theme from Hitskin?  If yes, did it add customized CSS?

Basically you just make a regular user account with a fake email and a random password, activate it in the admin panel and then PM me the details.

Here is a tutorial that explains it in more detail: https://help.forumotion.com/t156280-how-to-make-a-test-account-for-your-forum#1077992

@GrayceeJewel I went ahead and created my own test account on your forum. Could you just activate the account in your admin account please? You can do this in AP--->Users And Groups--->Inactive Users-->New Users.

I will then be able to look into your notification issue.

How big are you wanting them? From what I can tell they are about the standard size.

They don't look as small as they did originally..They looked like an 8-10 Font before..How much bigger would they be to go up 1 size?

If they are too big then just leave them. Are you sure you did not fix them for me? I think what is different is the Font change..It looks like Comic Sans MS vs. Trebucket MS, so it looks smaller.
what size is it now do you think?

to fix the text size go to your css sheet and add this code ( you can change the number 14px from the code )

Code:

#fa_toolbar #fa_right #notif_list li .contentText {
    font-size: 14px;
}

Oh TY you are so sweet to do a print screen...however when I look at that area it has a totally different CSS code & I see no 14px and it has width & Ht as 25 I guess. I am afraid to touch it so it looks like Greek to me & I am not good where CSS codes are concerned.
I'll just leave it like it is, but I thank you for showing me where it is at least.

No, I get it , but I break out in a rash just thinking about doing something that I have no clue about, so I'll just leave it the way it is, OK?
And what is that going to do? Make the Notification Font bigger? I think Brandon saw it last night & thinks it is about the standard size, so I thought we'd just leave it.
Because when I looked at the Css sheet, it looked nothing like the code you are giving me..So is this what changes it?
I'll be happy to leave it alone but TY for your wonderful help & advice.
