Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Yes, it is truly amazing how you can get a new ad almost every time you reload your forum. I was considering using it as a sort of bait to suddenly strike at all these damn spam sites. Then i realised that i do not have the means to do that.
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Hi!
Our forum, enfield.top-me.com has this very annoying problem too.
I have used Chrome Beta for Android and Chrome on iPad, mobile site doesn't seem to redirect, but it's the new mobile theme is poor in my opinion. Can't even post a reply, since there is no option for that.
So the problem is with a mobile browser and "Classic version".
Ads our forum redirect's is

I get the same ad every time.
And the ads open in the same tab, not in a new one. So the forum is pretty much useless now. Don't know if it's accessible with computer at the moment.

It works fine on PC for ours. And on phone, it reroutes your browser as soon as any page of the forum loads completely, and can't use back to leave.
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Yes. Same problem here.
Well atleast now I can post reply's with new "updated" mobile view, still can't edit a post.

Multiple users with complaints this morning. Does anyone here even care that this is driving users away? How about stopping all Ad Partners? Turn them off and see if this solves YOUR problem? This has gone on for months.

The BoB is completely inaccessible using my mobile device. It has been completely hijacked. As soon as the page opens I am bombarded with new pages opening and even get taken to the google app store. There's not even enough time to change the page to the mobile view rather than classic.
Same here when using an ipad with Safari browser.
I see BoB for about two seconds and then am redirected multiple times and land on a random site:
bill-hub.mymoviestheater.com
tracking.performancerevenues.com
bill-hub.moviezplace.com
xml.bliss91.com
getonthetop.com
rewardtime.net
You get the idea. I end up on a different site each time I try to land on BoB.
No problems accessing BoB with my Desktop using Chrome.

@Matty707
I don't see the same ad, cause I am not in the same country as you are. And I need the code cause it's essential to identify the banner and the provider. As I said before right click beside the banner and inspect the element and copy the link.
We can't do much without the information I had asked. Meaning : Your location , right click on the banner and copy the link, right click on the banner and inspect and copy the code, screenshot, plus tell me if it is from deskstop or on a mobile device. If it is a redirection provide the link.

As soon as I load the site it redirects to a random link it's never the same I don't get chance to right click the banner. Is this normal? Does forumotion have this problem all the time? Will it happen again assuming it can be fixed?
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Our forum enfield.top-me.com seems to work now. Hope it stays like that for a couple of days.

I have explained this to the users. It is not as if that information was not requested. It is more trouble than they probably feel they should be dealing with. So, this is the type of info I do get occasionally. Can you not work with this? Is this not an indication that Forumotion has a problem that they have been unable to solve for months? Remember, or do I have to say this every time I post here, I do not see any of these problems myself. For a long time I was sure the users were infected. But that is not the case. Users have problems on all browsers, all OS, all platforms. But not all users.

I have reported the problem, in the meantime you can ask your member to do is to clear their browser cache to get rid of the faulty banner and access the forum normally.

Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
This sound's like its been going on ages, wish I had known. Do all free forums have this problem?
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
I tried clearing the cache. No changes.
And it usually happens every few months on a much less debilitating scale, but this time it reached ridiculous proportions. In all my years, it has never been this bad.
Well, good luck with dealing with the s**tstorm, Leviosa. I know your pain.

Why would the owners choose to be affilated with such ruthless advertising partners. I am a member of lots of free sites and free service providers. This is the first time I have seen anything like this. I have downloaded free software onto my pc that are less intrusive. I'm utterly shocked and I have no other choice but to find another provider
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
What you can do to help is to check what is the last link to charge on your page before the redirection if it is possible of course. If it's not possible I understand and we are working on it.

Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
I don't know about you, but my phone does not display that bottom bar when it is loading a page, and it only happens on phone.
Basically, as soon as the site is loaded, the URL bar flicks through ~5 URLs in a second or two before it finally settles on some seemingly random final destination. Not even a chance that i can actually copy any of the intermediate ones.
I am based in Hungary if it helps though. You said actual geological location also helps. From what i have seen, we have another hungarian site, and a bulgarian one, so maybe it is something with the eastern european region?

Right, so myself, like many others apparently, have had issues with the forums having ads that immediately redirect you. No banner was displayed, no image of an ad, nothing.
Here's a screenshot I managed to grab before it redirected me. Note the lack of banner or, well, anything really that could lead someone to thinking "this is the problem right here."
It frustrated me to no end. So I decided to take it into my own hands and try to figure out what was causing the site to redirect like that.
I used a Chrome extension that made me able to replicate the user agent of my phone, then I went to the site. Lo and behold, I was redirected immediately. I knew right then that I had caught it. I turned on ad blocker and, surprise surprise, I wasn't redirected anymore. Adblock had managed to block whatever it was that was redirecting me. So after a quick ctrl+shift+i, I got something.
Here's what adblock said it stopped.
And here's the script involved.
Hopefully one of those things help you guys get rid of these immediate redirect problems. Thanks for all your hard work!

Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Also, can i somehow force mobile view before the site loads? some custom URL or something so i can at least use it in that mode until this is resolved?
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
Okay thank you guys. Can you test again and tell me if you are still having redirections ?

Yaaay. Good job, Leviosa. Or the guy contacted by Leviosa.
The emperor protects.

Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
No redirects for me, either. Thank goodness! We paid for no ads for members but couldn't log in quick enough. lol
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
I can also confirm, redirects have stopped on my phone. Thanks a ton!
Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
The problem is, that the problem is a recurring issue. Usually it starts randomly, gets progressively worse, it gets fixed once enough people complain, and then it returns over time again. Therefore, even if we do not see it now, it may still be present in the bowels of forumotion sourcecode.
Also, is there any specific reason why the clocks(timestamps) of our forum are 2 hours behind for everyone's local time, regardless of what timezone i set? i mean, i'm sure that knowing the time in the middle of the Atlantic is useful, but local time may be even more so.

Re: [ONLY TOPIC] Ads redirection (Mobile & PC)
@Nazamroth
I suggest you to open a topic in the right section for this.
It is a problem that happens sometimes when ad providers don't check thoroughly one of their banners. This has nothing to do with the sourcecode of forumotion. That's why I'm asking for the informations I'm always asking, to locate the provider but also the faulty banner. Anyway it is always fixed. The problem is, that the problem is a recurring issue. For the time issue please create a new topic.
Make you sure you have set the time zone of your forum in the admin panel to your local time zone and then also set it in your profile.
